I wanted to do a fun singing time for Halloween. So last year I printed up some candies and wrote songs on the back for us to sing. Then I added a special "treat" for how we would sing them. I would choose a reverent child to find a candy around the room (they were posted in easy to see spots) and then we would sing the song in the fun way listed.
This year I did it again and they loved it!
I Love to See the Temple (Skelleton Dance)
For this one I just printed off some images of skelletons in different poses. So you sing it like you would if you did yoga cards. So they moved their body in the shape of the pose as they sang the words. It can be fun here to point out that we need a body to make covenants and that is how the temple helps us to help others.
You can see a few photos I took to see how to move with the song on the right. You could easily do one verse or two. So you can choose to do either way!
I also put the verses in the photo images to help you. You basically sing one line with the left image and the next line with the next pose. We sang through the first verse and I had the second verse behind it so that after the first verse, we paused and I took down the first verse and the second verse was already in the spot on the board. I put these up on the board before Primary to make it easier to just go right into the activity.
I made a file with the skelleton images in case you need it. This is just the skelleton images. Some of them may be a little different than the ones I used since I found them last year. Here is that file in case you want it:
I also have a flip chart for "I Love to See the Temple" if you need that. You can find it here:
I Will Walk With Jesus (Glow Sticks)
We sang this with two glow sticks per child in the way that we did "I Will Walk With Jesus" with Straws. I always like to point out how one stick/straw is them, and the other is Jesus. At the end of singing this one we talked about how Jesus Christ can walk beside us every day and how he is the light of the world. I made sure all of them had bracelet attachments so they could wear them home and we put them under our chairs after singing with them. You can see my straw video here if you haven't seen that yet:
Family History I am Doing It (Spoons)
For this song, I like to talk about the importance of doing family history work for our ancestors who have passed on to the Spirit World and how they need our help. We use sppons that are white. One of them has a face drawn on it (just a simple smile or silly face) and one is blank. The silly face is ours and the blank face reminds us that we need to find an ancestor (or many) to do work for. Then we sing it to the simple pattern in the video below. I think I originally saw this idea on Michelle Crawford's youtube page, so definitely follow her for other great ideas. We just sang the first verse of this song two times in a row. Here is a short video of the pattern in case you need it:
The Holy Ghost (Ooo/Sing)
For this song, we just sang the song and I pointed to my mouth to say we should sing the words out, or held out an O shape with my hands for when we would sing Oooo like a ghost. I explained that the best ghost or spirit we could know testifies of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and asked them who that was, of course they all raised their hands and said "The Holy Ghost." I think it would be fun to hold up a picture of a ghost for when we "ooo" but I forgot to do that part for today. Maybe next year!
A Child's Prayer (Monster Mash Singing)
For this one we sang the first verse of "A Child's Prayer." I talked about how Heavenly Father wants us to pray no matter if we are feeling happy or sad or grumpy or a little like a monster. Then we just used the poses to sing them like skelleton dance/yoga cards would go. I posted these on a board before Primary as well to make it easier to just sing it when we got to this one. The kids loved this one a lot! Here is an image of how I put it on the board to help them know when to change positions:
Here is a file of the images I found for the pictures. I just printed them up and laminated them so they would hold up for many years of use. I think some of these may have been different images too, but you could always find different ones too as needed. Here is the file:

I Want to be a Missionary Now (Vampire Teeth)
For this song I got some vampire teeth on amazon and we passed out one to each child. Then we talked about how we need to share the gospel with every creature and sang using the teeth. This is probably one of the kids favorites. It is silly and fun too! I had them keep those as well so we don't spread germs.
Well, that covers it! I was able to get through all the songs and activities with both groups. For junior primary we sang "I am a Child of God" before we got ready to go because they were a bit bouncy at the end. I plan do do this or a variation each year so I will add more ways to do it as ideas come to me through the years. The kids really look forward to it!
