I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus

Updated: Jan 9

Flip Chart

Here is the flip chart I made for I'm trying to be like Jesus. I found some really great pictures and am excited to share them with my primary kiddos. I hope you enjoy it as well. You can print the file by clicking on the title of the song in the link below. As a tip, if you are viewing this from your phone, click the three dots in the upper left hand corner and select "print layout" for easier viewing. You can access the flip chart here:

I also have a chart that is just the words in case that is easier for you. You end up flipping the pages less, but it is a great reminder even for the teachers to have the words. I often use this type of flip chart if I am doing a review day where we are singing lots of songs. Then I flip the charts less, and can fit all the songs in one binder. It also frees up my hands to do more fun things during those days. Here is that file in case you need it:

Paper Plates

I created some fun actions using paper plates for this song. My hubby bought me the heavy duty ones when I sent him to the store, but you can use the cheaper ones just fine too. We basically just use them as if they were cymbals and I do them in purposeful movements to make them think of the words too. Check out my video here to see the full idea and to be able to practice it too! You can even just rewind to the beginning to see the whole song for extra practice time. I am excited to share this idea with my junior primary today!

Egg Shakers

Here is an egg shaker pattern for this song. I tried to make it simple by using similar patterns for similar ideas. For example every time it talks about love, we make the shape of a heart. Watch for some other simple pattern ideas in this video as well. If the pattern is too complex, feel free to play with the idea and make it your own!

Glow Bracelets

Here is a video I made using glow bracelets. My primary kiddos love anything that lights up! And I love how much we can relate the lights to sharing the light of Christ that is within us. Check out this video here:

That's all I have on this song for now, but I will be sure to update this post as more ideas come to me :)
