Here is a flip chart for the song "Search, Ponder, and Pray." I love to have all the words posted even if we are just singing as kids enter the room You can put the chart on the board with magnets, or in a three ring binder. I tend to print them on cardstock and hole punch them so I don't need sheet protectors. It works great. Just click the link below to view and print this document:
Scripture Pass
We are introducing this song this week, so I plan to play a simple, but fun game. I will bring a set of scriptures (probably the Bible since we are currently in the New Testament) and have the kids pass it like hot potato. Since we are talking about how Heavenly Father answers prayers, we will sing it and pause occassionally all while the kids are passing the scriptures around the room. If the piano stops playing the child holding it can tell of a time where Heavenly Father answered their prayer or something they can pray for. It will be simple and fun and allow us to sing it through a few times. Then I will share this quote above to wrap it up.
Rhythm Sticks
Our primary loves rhythm sticks, so I thought it would be fun to use rhythm sticks to sing this song for this Sunday. I try to do movement to the beat but most of the actions do it a few times in a row to make it easier for the kids to pick up the rhythm quickly. If you don't have rhythm sticks, you can easily make them. I bought a pack of 12 inch dowels from Walmart in the craft section and painted them with craft paint. Then we sealed them with a polyurethane spray sealant. You could also use modge podge if you wanted to. If you want to go even simpler you can use unsharpened pencils. Here is a video to give you an idea of what I did, but feel free to tweak it to your liking :)
That's all I have on this song for now, but I will update this post as I do more fun things for Singing Time. Happy singing :)
